What are hyaluronic acid fillers?

Hyaluronic acid fillers restore volume lost with age or due to bone structure. They soften folds such as nasolabial folds, fill hollows in the cheeks and temples, and shape the lips, chin and jawline.

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body. Products used in aesthetic medicine are processed to keep a shape and firmness suited to their purpose.

We use the Japan-approved Juvéderm Vista® range, and in some cases Korean-made hyaluronic acid.

At ECLAT CLINIC OMIYA, the doctor handles everything from consultation to injection, looking at the support and balance of your whole face and injecting only what is needed, a little at a time.

Effects

What it can do

  • Softer nasolabial folds and mouth lines. Folds look deep when cheek volume loss, bone structure and movement combine. We restore cheek support and volume around the mouth too, because filling only the line can make the mouth look heavy.
  • Fuller cheeks and temples. Restoring volume lost with age or due to bone structure softens a tired look and refines your outline from the front and at an angle.
  • A defined chin and jawline. We look at the chin’s position and the balance of the lower face, from the side and from the front, including length, width, the mouth and asymmetry.
  • Natural lips and under-eye “tear troughs”. We adjust lip shape and volume and under-eye fullness in small amounts. Small amounts show clearly, and puffiness, a bluish tint or unevenness can appear, so we judge suitability and amount carefully.
For you

Who it is for

  • You are bothered by nasolabial folds or lines around your mouth
  • You have hollows in your cheeks or temples
  • You want to refine your profile with your chin or jawline
  • You want to adjust your lips or under-eye fullness naturally, in small amounts
  • You prefer gradual change rather than everything at once
  • You want to discuss products and amounts with the doctor
Products

The products we use

  • Juvéderm Vista® Voluma XC: approved in Japan to restore volume lost in the mid-face, lower jaw and temples of adults. Used for three-dimensional volume in the cheeks and temples. According to the manufacturer, it is injected subcutaneously or deep above the bone.
  • Juvéderm Vista® Volux XC: approved in Japan to restore and increase facial volume. Its firmness is used to support bone structure and shape the chin and lower face. According to the manufacturer, it is injected subcutaneously or deep above the bone, and the lips, glabella and eye area are not included in its approved uses.
  • Juvéderm Vista® Volbella XC: chosen for areas such as the lips that need a soft texture and fine shaping.
  • SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM® and other skin-quality products: chosen to improve smoothness and hydration of the skin, such as on the cheeks, rather than to change contours. The purpose and injection method differ from volumizing fillers.
  • Korean-made hyaluronic acid: an option depending on your goal, desired result and budget.
Why ECLAT

Fillers at ECLAT

  • The doctor injects by hand. The same 1 mL plays a different role above the bone, under the skin or in shallower layers. The doctor examines your bone structure and soft tissue and chooses a needle or cannula, the position, depth and amount.
  • No fixed amounts by area or age. We cannot say “nasolabial folds need X mL” or “people in their 50s need X syringes.” We check bone support, fat position, skin thickness, asymmetry and previous fillers, set priorities and explain the amount you need. Before adding more, we check how much previous product remains and where.
  • No overfilling. We adjust in small amounts while checking asymmetry and expressions, so the result looks natural from the front, at an angle and from the side. If a small amount achieves the goal, we do not add more.
Choosing

Choosing the right treatment

  • Products: fillers differ in their properties and purpose, such as supporting shape, blending softly or improving skin quality. Approved products have defined uses, injection areas and durations shown in clinical trials. The doctor chooses within those, matched to your wishes.
  • Fillers, Botox, HIFU or a thread lift? Fillers mainly restore volume and refine folds and contours. Botox suits expression lines and muscle bulk. HIFU and thread lifts suit loose skin. Fat-dissolving injections or liposuction suit fat. We discuss combinations, including choosing not to treat.
  • Nose fillers need extra care. Important blood vessels run around the nose. If a vessel is blocked, it can lead to serious complications such as skin damage or vision problems. We do not decide on your wish alone, and check previous fillers, nose shape, the change you need and alternatives including surgery.
Duration

How long it lasts

It depends on the product, area, amount, movement of the area and your metabolism.

You can see the shape right after injection, but swelling, puffiness and bruising affect it for a few days to 1–2 weeks. Adding more based on how you look right away can lead to too much once the swelling settles, so we decide on additions or corrections after the swelling has gone down.

Flow

The procedure

  1. Doctor’s examination and consultation. We check the change you want and any previous fillers or dissolving, examine your whole face from the front, at an angle and from the side, and explain the product and amount.
  2. Photos and design. We take photos and look at your face as it moves to decide where to inject and where to avoid.
  3. Anesthesia and cooling.Pain varies from person to person. Tell us at your consultation if you are worried.
  4. Injection by the doctor. The doctor injects small amounts while checking from the front, at an angle and from the side, and by touch.
  5. Check and aftercare. We check swelling, pain, skin color and asymmetry, and explain what to do at home and which symptoms need prompt contact.

Risks

Risks and side effects

  • Common at the injection site: pain, redness, swelling, puffiness, bruising, tenderness and itching. Bruising can show for 1–2 weeks. Puffiness can be stronger on the lips and around the eyes.
  • Results: asymmetry, unevenness, lumps, firmness to the touch, too much or too little, or the product shifting. We reassess after swelling settles and consider watching, adding more or dissolving with hyaluronidase.
  • Infection, inflammation and delayed reactions: infection, allergic reactions, delayed swelling or redness and inflammatory lumps. Depending on symptoms, an examination, medication or dissolving may be needed.
  • Blocked blood vessels: rarely, the product can enter or press on a blood vessel and block blood flow. This can lead to serious complications such as skin damage or necrosis, nerve damage, vision problems or blindness. Contact us at once if you have severe pain, sudden changes in skin color, problems with your vision, eye pain or a severe headache during or after treatment.
Aftercare

After treatment

  • On the day, do not press or massage the injected areas.
  • Avoid alcohol, hard exercise, saunas and long baths, which can make swelling and bruising worse.
  • You can wash your face and wear makeup once the needle points stop bleeding, if pain and swelling are not strong. Do not rub the area, and use clean hands and tools.
  • Tell us before treatment if you have dental treatment, strong facial massage or beauty devices planned.
  • Contact us at once if you have severe pain, skin that turns white, purple or blotchy, blurred or missing vision, eye pain, a sudden severe headache, rapidly worsening swelling or redness, fever or pus. If you are already home, see a doctor near you straight away and let us know.
FAQ

FAQ

How long does it last?

It depends on the product, area, amount, movement and metabolism, so we explain it once the product is chosen.

How many mL or syringes do I need?

It cannot be decided by age or area alone. We set priorities at your examination and explain the amount you need.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the product and number of syringes. We confirm the amount and total after your examination, before treatment.

Does it hurt?

You will feel the needle and some pressure. We combine cooling or anesthesia depending on the area and product.

Can lumps or unevenness be dissolved?

Common products can often be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Depending on the cause, we consider watching, dissolving or medication, and decide the extent with the risks of dissolving (such as swelling and allergy) in mind.
