What is facial liposuction and fat removal?
These treatments remove the fat that causes full cheeks, a double chin or heaviness around the mouth, to refine your outline.
We choose the method according to where the fat is and how much there is.
At ECLAT CLINIC OMIYA, we offer liposuction of the cheeks and under the chin, liposuction injection, buccal fat removal, jowl fat removal and malar fat removal.
We use our own anesthetic blend to reduce pain and swelling, and adjust the amount removed to your face for a natural outline with visible change.
What it can do
- Slimmer cheeks. Reducing fat under the skin of the cheeks, or the buccal fat deep in the cheeks, softens a round or bottom-heavy face.
- A cleaner jawline in profile. Removing fat under the chin improves a double chin and defines the line between jaw and neck.
- Less heaviness around the mouth and cheekbones. Adjusting jowl fat and malar fat reduces heaviness around the mouth and fullness in the upper cheeks.
How much change you see varies from person to person.
Who it is for
- You want slimmer cheeks or a less round face
- You are bothered by a double chin or fat under the chin
- You want to reduce heaviness around your mouth or a bottom-heavy face
- You want to refine fullness near your cheekbones
- You want less pain, swelling and strain after treatment
- You want an outline that suits you without hollow cheeks
Methods by area
- Liposuction: fat under the skin that causes full cheeks or a double chin is removed through a small entry point with a thin tube called a cannula. Cheeks only, under the chin only, or both. If you have a lot of loose skin, the change may not be enough.
- Liposuction injection: a smaller instrument than liposuction removes fat directly from the cheeks, under the chin, jowls or malar area. Less downtime and smaller wounds, no stitches to remove and a face band is not essential. Less fat can be removed than with liposuction, so liposuction may suit you better if you want a bigger reduction.
- Buccal fat removal: part of the deep fat inside the cheek that causes fullness is removed from inside the mouth. It targets a different layer from liposuction of the fat under the skin. It may not suit you if your cheeks are already slim or hollow, so we judge what fat to keep, considering bone structure and future changes with age.
- Jowl fat removal: fat under the skin from beside the corners of the mouth down to the jawline is suctioned to reduce heaviness around the mouth and lower face. Available as liposuction or liposuction injection. If loose skin is the main cause, another treatment may suit you better.
- Malar fat removal: fairly shallow fat linked to fullness near the cheekbones is adjusted with liposuction or liposuction injection. For people bothered by cheeks that bunch up when smiling or by upper-cheek volume. Removing too much can cause hollow cheeks or unevenness, so we check how your cheeks look when you move them. Nasolabial folds are not caused only by fat, so this is not right for everyone.
Facial liposuction at ECLAT
- Our own anesthetic blend. We blend our own anesthetic to reduce pain and swelling and make recovery at home easier. We check how well it is working and how you feel as we go. Pain and swelling vary from person to person.
- The right amount for you. Cheek fat differs in thickness, distribution, bone structure and skin firmness. We decide what to reduce and what to keep, and aim for an outline that flows naturally from the front, at an angle and in profile, while limiting hollows and puckering.
Liposuction, liposuction injection or fat-dissolving injections?
- Liposuction and liposuction injection: both remove fat directly. We choose based on the change you want and how much strain you are willing to accept.
- Fat-dissolving injections: a medicine is injected, and no fat is suctioned. This is different from “liposuction injection”.
If the main reason your face looks large is loose skin, bone structure or muscle, reducing fat alone may not give you what you want. Removing more is not always better: too much can cause hollows or unevenness. We identify the cause at your examination and may suggest other treatments such as a thread lift, HIFU or jaw Botox.
The procedure
- Examination and consultation. We hear which areas bother you and the outline you want, check fat thickness, loose skin, bone structure, asymmetry, previous treatments and your health, and explain the method, cost, risks and recovery.
- Design. We check the view from the front, at an angle and from the side, and the connection between cheeks, under the chin and mouth, and decide what to reduce and what to keep.
- Anesthesia. We use our own anesthetic blend and check that it is working before starting. Tell us in advance if you are worried about pain.
- Liposuction or fat removal. We remove fat with the chosen method, adjusting the amount for each area and checking balance, and treat or close the wounds as needed.
- Check and aftercare. We check your condition and the treated area, and explain compression, medicines, precautions and follow-up.
Recovery and results
- First few days: swelling, puffiness and pain are most likely. The anesthetic fluid can make the area look fuller than before for a while. Do not judge by how it looks right away, and follow the care instructions.
- About 1–2 weeks: swelling and bruising gradually settle. With larger areas, swelling can last 2–3 weeks or more.
- From 1–3 months: the change in your outline becomes easier to see. Firmness or tightness may remain, and it can take 3–6 months for the result to settle.
Recovery depends on the method, area and your body. Whether any further treatment or correction is needed is decided after swelling and firmness have settled.

Who should not have this treatment
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have an infection or inflammation in the area
- You have a bleeding disorder
- Your general health is unstable
Treatments that reduce fat may not suit you if you have little fat or if loose skin is the main cause. Always tell us about allergies to anesthetics, medical conditions, medicines, and previous facial surgery, liposuction or fillers. Do not stop blood thinners or antiplatelet medicines on your own.
Risks and side effects
- Swelling, bruising and pain: swelling, puffiness, bruising, pain and tenderness. How much and how long depends on the area, amount removed and the person.
- Firmness, tightness and sensation: hardening under the skin during healing, tightness, numbness and reduced sensation. These usually change over time but can last.
- Outline and results: asymmetry, unevenness, hollows, hollow cheeks, puckering, loose skin, scars, or less change than you hoped for. Further treatment or correction may be needed.
- Surgery and anesthesia: infection, bleeding or hematoma, fluid collection, slow wound healing, allergy or toxicity from anesthetics, and injury to nerves or blood vessels. With buccal fat removal, take particular care about symptoms from injury to the salivary duct or facial nerve.
- Contact us if you have rapidly increasing swelling, severe pain, bleeding that will not stop, fever or pus. If you have difficulty breathing, chest pain or changes in consciousness, go to an emergency hospital at once. If you are already home, see a doctor near you and let us know.
After treatment
- Take prescribed medicines as instructed.
- A face band is not essential after liposuction injection. If we advise compression, follow the method and duration.
- Avoid pressing or kneading the area. Massage only once the doctor allows it.
- Avoid alcohol, hard exercise, saunas and long baths, which can prolong swelling and bleeding.
- We tell you when you can restart showering, washing your face and makeup, depending on the wound and method.
- If treated from inside the mouth, keep your mouth clean as instructed and avoid foods that strain the wound.
- Some types of anesthesia mean you cannot drive on the day, so plan how you will get back.
FAQ
Will it hurt even with anesthesia?
We use our own anesthetic blend to reduce pain and swelling, but you may feel a sting during anesthesia, pressure during treatment and pain afterwards. We check how well it is working as we go, so tell us in advance if you are anxious.
Will removing fat also improve sagging or nasolabial folds?
If fat bulges are the main cause, improvement may be possible. If loose skin or volume loss is the main cause, reducing fat can make sagging or hollows more noticeable, so we check the cause at your examination.
Does removed fat come back?
These treatments reduce the number of fat cells, but the remaining fat cells can grow with weight gain, and your outline also changes with age. Avoiding sudden weight changes is important.
Can I have several areas, such as cheeks and under the chin, at the same time?
It can be considered depending on your face, health and the combination. We adjust the amount for each area and explain that multiple areas mean more swelling and strain on the body.
