About

What is the suture method?

The suture (buried) method uses fine medical sutures to create a fold in the upper eyelid that forms a double eyelid line.

It suits you if you want to stop using eyelid tape or glue every morning, adjust your current crease, or get a natural double eyelid.

The sutures connect tissue inside the eyelid with the skin side, so the skin folds when you open your eyes.

Because there is no large incision, recovery tends to be faster than with the incision method.

At ECLAT CLINIC OMIYA, we use line fixation, passing the suture along the crease, and offer both skin-side and inner-side knots.

Effects

What it can do

  • Easier mornings. A crease that shows without eyelid tape or glue.
  • A natural double eyelid from single or hooded eyelids. We design the width and how it looks with your eyes open and closed, so the line suits your eyes.
  • A refined current crease. We adjust your existing crease to your wishes and eyelids. The line can fade or come undone over time.
For you

Who it is for

  • You want to stop using eyelid tape or glue every morning
  • You want a natural double eyelid from single or hooded eyelids
  • You want to adjust the width or line of your current crease
  • You do not want an operation with a large incision
  • You want as little downtime as possible
  • You are hesitating because you are afraid of pain
  • You want advice on a tapered or parallel crease

Our methods

  • Line fixation, skin side or inner side. Our suture method passes the suture along the crease (“line fixation”). The knot sits on the skin side (outer fixation) or on the inside of the eyelid (inner fixation). We do both with line fixation, and choose based on your eyelids and wishes, including how visible the suture is and aftercare.
  • ECLAT Double Eyelid and ECLAT Double Eyelid Pro. Pro is our inner-fixation option, with the suture tied on the inside of the eyelid. Both come in Single, Double and Triple. We explain the method and cost after checking your eyelids and the line you want.
Why ECLAT

Double eyelid surgery at ECLAT

  • No suture wound on the surface (Pro). ECLAT Double Eyelid Pro does not pass the suture through the eyelid surface. It aims to limit swelling and shorten downtime. Swelling and bruising can still occur, and recovery varies.
  • A smoother line (Pro). With no knot on the surface, Pro aims for a smooth, clean crease.
  • Less pain from the first injection. The first local anesthetic injection is usually the most painful part. We focus on keeping it as gentle as possible. Pain varies from person to person.
Choosing

Choosing your crease

Tapered, parallel and mixed creases differ in how the line looks near the inner corner of the eye.

  • Tapered: the line hides under the skin near the inner corner and widens toward the outer corner, for a clean, natural look.
  • Parallel: the line is visible from the inner corner, for a more striking look. Depending on the epicanthal fold and skin thickness, the suture method alone may not create this shape.
  • Mixed: between the two, with a subtle line near the inner corner balanced with the width at the outer corner.

The same width can look different depending on eyelid thickness, the epicanthal fold and the distance between brow and eye. Names for shapes vary too, so we check the line that suits your eyes with photos and a simulation.

Compare

Suture method or incision method?

Both create a double eyelid line, but they differ in technique, how long the line lasts and recovery time.

The suture method makes a fold with sutures. With no large incision, recovery tends to be faster, but the line can fade or come undone over time.

The incision method cuts the skin along the crease and adjusts excess skin or tissue as needed. The line lasts better, but swelling takes longer to settle and leaves a scar.

If you have a lot of loose skin, thick eyelids, or a suture-method line that keeps coming undone, the incision method or another option may suit you better.

Flow

The procedure

  1. Booking. If you have photos of a crease close to what you want, bring them to your consultation.
  2. Consultation and examination. We check eyelid thickness, loose skin, asymmetry, previous eyelid surgery and eye conditions, and judge whether the suture method suits you.
  3. Design and simulation. We simulate the width you want while checking the line with your eyes open, then confirm the expected result, cost and risks.
  4. Anesthesia and procedure. We give anesthesia and place the sutures according to the design. Tell us in advance if you are worried about pain.
  5. Check and aftercare. We check your eyes after the procedure and explain how to care for them.
Recovery

Recovery

  • Swelling: most visible for a few days, and usually settles gradually over 1–2 weeks
  • Bruising: if it appears, it can last 2–3 weeks
  • Right after: swelling can make the crease look wider than planned, or uneven. Do not judge by how it looks right away
  • After swelling settles: the line can take more time to look natural
  • Stitches: as a rule, no stitches to remove
  • Washing, makeup and contact lenses: we tell you when to restart

Risks and side effects

  • Swelling, bruising and pain: swelling, puffiness, bruising, pain and redness. How much and how long varies.

  • Use any prescribed medicine as instructed.
  • Ask at your consultation when you can restart eyelash extensions and lash lifts.
FAQ

FAQ

If the sutures are removed, will my eyelids go back to how they were?

Not always. The crease can remain because of adhesions, and depending on the sutures and time passed, complete removal can be difficult.

Is a wider crease better?

Not necessarily. Depending on eyelid thickness and how your eyes open, a wide crease can look sleepy, deep-set or unnatural, or come undone. We decide while checking the balance with your eyes open.

I use eyelid tape or glue. Do I need to stop before my consultation?

Tell us how you use them. A photo of the line you usually create helps. If you have a rash or inflammation, we may treat your skin first.

Can I have the suture method again over one done at another clinic?

We examine the current sutures, your eyelids and the width you want, and decide whether the existing sutures can stay or should be removed first. Bring details of your previous procedure if you have them.

When can I wear contact lenses and eye makeup again?

It depends on the method and on your wound, conjunctiva, swelling and comfort, so follow the aftercare instructions for your method. If you wear contact lenses, bring glasses.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. We offer guarantee plans, with prices for each period in the price list. We explain the conditions for a redo, exclusions and any extra costs before you sign up. [Book a consultation] Private medical care, not covered by insurance. Results and recovery vary from person to person.
