About

What is a thread lift?

Medical threads are placed under the skin to support and lift sagging tissue in the cheeks and around the mouth.

Small barbs on the threads, called cogs, hold the tissue in its new position.

At ECLAT CLINIC OMIYA, Dr. Sando examines your cheeks, the area around your mouth and your jawline, and decides the type of thread, the number of threads, and where and in which direction to place them.

Effects

What it can do

  • A sharper jawline. It supports sagging cheeks and the area beside the mouth, and refines the line to the chin. It treats sagging, not fat.
  • Fewer shadows from sagging. It softens the shadows that sagging cheeks and mouth corners create.
  • A lift you can see straight away. Most people notice the lift right after treatment. As swelling and tightness settle, the result blends in with your natural expressions. Do not judge the final result by how you look on the day.
For you

Who it is for

  • You are bothered by sagging around your cheeks or mouth
  • You want a sharper jawline
  • You want a lift without surgery
  • You want natural expressions as well as a visible lift
Threads

The threads we use

The same number of threads can give different results, depending on where they go, the direction and the type of thread.

  • King Cobra thread

    King Cobra

A PDO thread with barbs in 6 directions. Used to give firm lift where it is needed, such as beside the mouth.

  • Lift King thread

    Lift King

A PDO thread with hook-shaped barbs. Used to support the tissue from the cheeks to the jawline and refine the face outline.

  • Arrow thread

    Arrow

A soft PDO thread with triangular barbs. Used in the mid-cheek, where it needs to move naturally with your expressions.

ECLAT Thread Premium: absorbable PCL (polycaprolactone) threads, priced separately. PCL is generally absorbed more slowly than PDO. Long-lasting threads are not right for everyone, so we decide together at your consultation.

All three standard PDO threads are the same price per thread, so we choose threads for your face, not for the price.

Why ECLAT

Why choose ECLAT Thread

  • Less pain. We combine very fine needles, careful injection technique and our own local anesthetic blend. Laughing gas and IV sedation are also available.
  • Less swelling. We choose the depth and path of each thread based on facial anatomy to reduce trauma and bleeding.
  • Lift with natural expressions. We use three types of PDO thread for different areas, with care to avoid puckering and dimples.
  • One doctor from start to finish. Dr. Sando, with more than 1,000 thread lifts (including at previous clinics), handles your consultation, design, treatment and follow-up.
  • Designed from the front and the side. We check your cheeks, mouth area, jawline and balance from the front, and the line from cheek to chin from the side.

Thread lift, HIFU or fillers?

All three treat sagging, but they work differently.

A thread lift supports and lifts sagging tissue. HIFU tightens tissue with ultrasound heat. Hyaluronic acid fillers restore lost volume to refine contours and shadows.

A thread lift alone may not be enough if the main cause is excess fat, a lot of loose skin, deep wrinkles or lost volume. Nasolabial folds can improve when sagging cheeks are the cause, but other treatments may suit folds caused mainly by bone structure or deep creases.

If we suggest combining treatments, we explain why, in what order, when, and the extra cost before you decide.

Cost

How many threads and the cost

A full jawline usually needs about 8–10 threads in total. The right number depends on how much and where you are sagging, your bone structure and the change you want. Dr. Sando explains why you need that number.

Price: ¥24,000 per thread. For example, 8 threads cost ¥192,000 and 10 threads cost ¥240,000.

The English consultation fee for your first visit is ¥55,000. See the International Price List for details.

Flow

The procedure

  1. Consultation and design.Dr. Sando asks about previous treatments and medicines, checks your bone structure, fat, loose skin, balance and expressions, then decides the thread type, number and direction. You hear the limits, risks and total price before you decide.
  2. Anesthesia.Local anesthesia is given, and we check that it is working before inserting the threads.
  3. Thread placement. The threads are placed following the design, and the balance and lift are adjusted.
  4. Aftercare instructions. We check you after treatment and explain washing, makeup and exercise. Your time at the clinic and what to do afterwards depend on the type of anesthesia.
Recovery

Recovery

  • First few days: swelling, puffiness, tenderness and tightness are common. Do not press hard on the area, and follow the doctor’s instructions on medicines and care.
  • 1–2 weeks: swelling and bruising usually settle gradually. Discomfort when opening your mouth wide, or tightness, can last longer.
  • Washing, makeup and showering: we tell you when you can restart, based on the needle points and swelling.
Duration

How long it lasts

About 6–12 months for the standard ECLAT Thread. It depends on the thread type, number of threads, the area, how much you were sagging and your lifestyle. The effect is not permanent. The time it takes the thread to dissolve is not the same as how long the lift lasts.

Before you book

Who should not have this treatment

  • Treatment may not be possible if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an infection or a significant skin condition in the area.
  • Tell us in advance if you have a bleeding tendency, a serious medical condition, an allergy to anesthetics or thread materials, or take blood thinners or antiplatelet medicines. Do not stop any medicine on your own.
  • If you have had a thread lift, facial surgery or fillers before, bring details of when and where it was done and the product names.
Risks

Risks and side effects

  • Swelling, bruising and pain: redness, swelling, puffiness, bruising, tenderness, tightness and discomfort when opening your mouth. Usually a few days to 2 weeks, but sometimes longer.
  • Results: asymmetry, unevenness, puckering, dimples, threads that can be seen or felt, less change than you hoped for, or the lift relaxing. Adjustment or further treatment may be needed.
  • Complications from threads or anesthesia: infection, inflammation, bleeding or hematoma, scarring, pigmentation, thread movement, exposure or breakage, allergy, numbness or changes in sensation, and injury to nerves, blood vessels or nearby tissue.
  • Contact us straight away if you have severe pain, rapidly increasing swelling, pus, fever, changes in skin color or an exposed thread. Do not pull or cut a thread yourself. If you are already home, see a doctor near you and let us know.
Aftercare

After treatment

  • Avoid rubbing, massaging or pressing the treated area.
  • You may be asked to avoid opening your mouth wide, hard exercise, alcohol, long baths and dental treatment for a while. The doctor tells you how long, depending on the threads and areas treated.
  • If you plan other cosmetic treatments, ask us about the timing first.
FAQ

FAQ

Can I have the treatment on the same day as my consultation?

Often yes, if the treatment is right for you and our schedule and your anesthesia choice allow it. Let us know when you send your inquiry.

Can I have a thread lift if I have had one at another clinic?

Yes. Tell us when you had it, how many threads and what type. When and how we add threads depends on the existing threads and your tissue.

Can the threads be seen or felt?

This can happen. We place the threads at a depth chosen to reduce this risk. If you notice it, do not press or pull on the area. Contact us.

Can men have a thread lift?

Yes. We assess your skin thickness, fat and the outline you want.
